25.8 Things Left To Do – The Alchemist

“When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person realize his dream.”

Continuing with the whole book thing, I read The Alchemist. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is about Santiago, a shepherd boy, who leaves his home in Spain to search for his Personal Legend which is treasure buried in the Pyramids of Egypt. Along the way he meets several interesting characters that help him accomplish his 30 things, errr, find his Personal Legend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anybody out there looking for a quick read. I was worried before reading this book that it would convince me to drop everything I do and own, and persuade me to follow my dreams and hearts desire. Luckily that ended up not being the case because for the moment I still don’t know what my heart desires. Kinda.

Again, thanks to this guy for recommending The Alchemist.

While reading this book I found parallels between Santiago’s journey and my own journey to find my “Personal Legend” but I found even more parallels between Santiago and Bruce Leeroy. For the uninitiated, Bruce Leeroy (protagonist of the cult classic 80’s chop socky flick “Berry Gordy presents The Last Dragon”) was on a quest to find the Master. He meets an interesting cast of characters that guide him along the way, giving him hints as to where he could find the Master. It isn’t until the climatic ending where our hero, facing death in the eye, realizes who and where the Master is.

Okay, so maybe they aren’t exactly the same. But call it whatever you want. Call it a Personal Legend, the Master, 30 Things, or your hearts desire. Whatever it is, or whatever it will be, I’m gonna get it because the universe will conspire to help me. Maktub.

I'm also a big Paulo Coelho fan and I don't know if you’ve heard about his blog
I started as a fan and now I'm collaborating with him and thought that you would like to enter his universe.
Check out the blog, if you want, or subscribe to his newsletter

You'll see a community of warriors of light sharing ideas, dreams and most importantly following their personal legend.

"God judges a tree by its fruits and not by its roots."

See you there and have a great day!
