When I was in elementary school I would spend the summer days at my uncle David's house. We'd play football on the street and he'd make me and my brother the best lemonade. His finger was the first I ever pulled and I think he was the first person to ever moon me.
#7 on my list was to apologize to someone I’ve wronged. Over the years I’ve done many unfortunate things to many different people but this one was especially painful because it involved family. Five years ago I disrespected my uncle David. What I did wasn't anything too bad, but it was bad enough for me to feel too embarrassed to see him again.
Recently I saw David for the first time since that regrettable incident. My family and I went to his sister's wedding and at the reception I mustered up the courage to apologize to my uncle five years after the fact. He put his hand on my shoulder, smiled at me, and told me there were no hard feelings. We then spent the rest of the night hanging out with our mutual friend Remy.
Thanks to David for accepting my apology. He taught me that when it comes to family there should be no hard feelings. I think the same should apply to your friends as well.
